Better than an Hallelujah

I haven't updated this in quite awhile so I thought I would now!

As some of you know, I have been teaching myself guitar and so today I decided to choose a song and attempt to play it. So this is my first attempt! Don't be too harsh. I'm posting it so that I can keep track of my progress over the next months. I'm going to keep learning this song so that eventually I'll have the guitar perfect!

Fire and Rain

This is an absolute favorite of mine ever since I sang it in Middle School choir in Egypt. :-)

I decided that I've been doing a lot of slow songs lately (they are my favorite after all) so I went for a faster one. This is a song by Joy Williams called "We". I just picked it up around 2 hours ago, learned it and recorded it, so it is nowhere near perfect and does not have the most interesting piano accompaniment but I really wanted to record something tonight. ALSO, you'll hear some very nice wrong notes. There's a rather cringe worthy section, see if you can spot it. And I hope you appreciate my accidental modulation on the last three chords of the song. OOPS!! Haha enjoy anyways!

Check back for a cover of "Scarborough Fair" (one of my absolute favorite songs) and "Fire and Rain" (a beautiful yet sad one).

Fears

Lately I've been having fears and doubts about my inadequacies and how I always seem to wish that I was better at what I do. I fear that my dreams will never be realized, that I won't be as good as I need to be or am supposed to be. Why, oh why, did I have to choose such a sought after dream!

This blog must just be part of the process of becoming the singer I want to be.

Angel Wings

Hi all!

I hope you are having a fantastic Saturday night. Currently I am looking chords to do a cover of "Fire and Rain" by James Taylor. One of my favorite songs!

However, I thought I would upload one of my own songs that is on my CD called "Angel Wings". I wish that I could just upload the music, but you can only do videos so I just put one of my husband's photos in the background. Yes, the recording isn't perfect, but that's what you get with subpar equipment! Enjoy!

Somewhere Out There

Hello!

I have decided that my goal for the next wee while, is that I will record one cover song per week. It's nice to have things to work towards!

Here is a song that I learned, covered, and recorded today. I remember the first time that I heard this song back in fourth grade. We sung it during one of our choir concerts and I was so jealous because an older girl got to sing a solo in it! It has always stuck with me and since I happened to have the sheet music, I decided I would cover it. 

If anyone has suggestions of songs they would like me to cover, just drop me a note!
